Instructional Technology Coach
Chester County

Being in the classroom for over 20 years has allowed me to see the progression of technology to enhance instruction; and just as technology has changed over the years, so has the way students learn. As I see the need for students to become more prepared for a changing world, I have embraced the opportunity to be a teacher leader and help other teachers effectively integrate technology into their classrooms. I have always sought out ways to integrate technology in my mathematics classes and am beginning the process of becoming a Microsoft Innovative Educator.

After graduating from Winthrop University with a Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, I began teaching at the secondary level in beautiful South Carolina. During the next 19 years, I took on many leadership roles at the school, district and state levels such as becoming a mentor teacher, a teacher evaluator, and working on curriculum and assessment writing teams. I earned a Master’s degree in Secondary Education and my National Board Certification in Adolescence and Young Adulthood in Mathematics. In 2010, I became Chester County School District Teacher of the Year.

In 2012, I earned a second Master’s degree in Educational Leadership and become the Coordinator of High Schools in Cherokee County. One aspect of my job was to work in partnership with the director of IT to develop and implement a 1:1 initiative. I have taken that leadership experience and am currently an Instructional Technology Coach in Chester County as part of their technology initiative entitled hiTEC, Helping Integrate Technology, Education and Careers.

My goals as an ITC are to continuously seek new ways to use technology, to keep the school's focus on how technology can make the learning more engaging, relevant and rigorous for students, and to give teachers support in navigating the vast field of technology applications and devices.

While at home, I enjoy spending time with my two daughters, Emma and Maddy, reading, running and spending as much time as I can at the beach.
