Mandy Freeman

Instructional Technology Coach
Richburg, SC

I have been teaching Biology and Physical Science in South Carolina public high schools for the last 17 years, the majority of that time has been spent in Chester County. I have an associate’s degree in science, a bachelor’s degree in biological sciences and a master’s degree in education with a focus in divergent learning. In 2005, I earned my National Board Certification in Adolescence and Young Adulthood in Biology and recently received my renewal certificate in 2015.

I have taken on various leadership roles within my school district such as becoming a mentor for the Center for Educator Recruitment, Retention and Advancement, a SAFE-T trained evaluator, and a Microsoft Innovative Educator. Recently our district began a technology initiative entitled hiTEC, Helping Integrate Technology, Education and Careers. This program was designed to ensure that our students master the skills needed to compete in a global economy. With this initiative, I was trained as a master teacher to help integrate technology throughout all classrooms in my school. In 2013, our district was selected to enter into a Microsoft Alliance Partnership which has opened up many opportunities for teachers and students in our district. This initiative has placed a tablet in the hands of each student in grades 4-12 and equipped them with the software and equipment to compete with other students and teachers from around the world.

I have always been interested in new technology and the use of it in my classroom. I continuously seek new ways to use technology to teach my students; I especially love Microsoft OneNote. This school year, I accepted a new position as the Instructional Technology Coach for my school. I am now charged with educating and coaching fellow teachers on effectively integrating technology into their classrooms. I am excited for this new challenge in my career.

When I am not at work, I enjoy spending time with my husband, Matt, and my daughter, Jordan.
