The following educational technology issues are essential to the NCCE mission and vision moving forward (Statements below developed in collaboration with ISTE.):
Internet connectivity: Schools across the United States require robust and reliable broadband connectivity. However, most schools do not have the network capacity to meet the demands of today’s digital environment.
- NCCE supports efforts that complement E-Rate’s school connectivity focus to provide school-to-home broadband connectivity for all students, regardless of socio-economic status or geographic location.
- NCCE encourages high-speed internet availability for students, educators, and communities across the globe to promote higher levels of learning as well as economic stability.
State and Federal Standards: Our students are at the center of everything we do. As educators, our foremost goal is to prepare them for their future. Standards and learning goals describe the skills and knowledge they need to learn effectively and live productively in an increasingly global and digital society. Standards at the foundation of learning and technology integration include International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) Standards, Common Core State Standards (CCSS), Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), National Core Arts Standards, and other state specific standards.
- NCCE supports State and Federal Standards development and use as a foundation for teacher intentional integration of technology tools to support all students as they meet and exceed the rigorous standards-based learning goals and further the development of essential life skills, including problem solving, critical thinking, creativity and collaboration.
- NCCE believes that standards will foster the development of digital skills that are a prerequisite for success in not only the workplace, but in all aspects of life as a global citizen.
