NCCE’s One-Day Maker Education Summit
Wednesday, March 22, 2017—9 am-4 pm
Join us for a full day of learning the foundations of electronics, programming, computer science and Maker Education for the classroom. We will focus on both the technical aspects of Maker Education as well as the pedagogy, activities, pacing and strategies for implementing a project-based STEM/STEAM classroom or MakerSpace. Through a series of curated presentations, collaborative workshops, guest speakers, and hands-on activities, we will share our experiences and determine action-ready methods for implementing Maker Education in your schools, libraries, and classrooms.
You’ll experience the design process and learn how to introduce tinkering to any classroom through fun, hands-on projects that tie into state standards. Topics covered will include an introduction to the benefits of Maker Education, an explanation of how to design a MakerSpace, and a variety of projects to introduce Maker Education to any class.
We encourage you to send a team (i.e. Administrator, Classroom Teacher(s), Teacher Librarian or Instructional Coach) as time will be incorporated throughout the day for you to determine next steps and develop a mini-action plan for implementation back at your school.
