Bringing Computational Thinking to Life with micro:bit
6 hour
This one-day workshop is designed to give educators an understanding of what computational thinking and physical computing are and how they can integrate it into any curriculum to deepen learning. Â Educators will learn the four components of computational thinking. Â In addition, educators will learn why physical computing is a powerful teaching tool, and how MakeCode.com and micro:bit support physical computing projects. Â Educators will design content-based physical computing activities and lessons that reinforce the four components of computational thinking. Â This workshop is aimed at educators for whom computational thinking and physical computing are relatively new and who are looking to implement lessons in their classroom right away. This training will explore computational thinking and physical computing through hands-on and collaborative activities.
- Participants will understand the basic principles of: Computer science, Computational thinking, and Physical computing
- Learn how MakeCode.com and micro:bit promote physical computing
- Design physical computing activities and lessons that integrate the components of computational thinking
- Reflect on how computational thinking and physical computing can be implemented in classes
