Following a remarkable 20-year career dedicated to investing in students, Kiersten Kerr, MLIS, officially retired this past June. A “proud Viking” to her core, Kiersten spent the last 15 years as the Library Media Specialist at Coeur d’Alene High School following four years as the Library Manager at Hayden Meadows Elementary, leaving an unforgettable mark on the entire community.
Kiersten’s tenure was defined by her tireless dedication to literacy and student growth. Described as dedicated, proactive, and distinguished, Kiersten brought a wealth of expertise to her role, including a Master’s in Library and Information Science from the University of North Texas. Whether she was mentoring students or enjoying time on the lake or skiing at Silver Mountain with her family, her passion for her community was always evident.
Her impact is best captured by those who worked alongside her:
“Kiersten Kerr’s impact extends far beyond the Coeur d’Alene High School library; her dedicated and proactive leadership has elevated school libraries across our district and the State of Idaho, highlighted by her work as the former School Libraries Chair for the Idaho Library Association and her recognition as Idaho Librarian of the Year. We are grateful for her long service and know she will continue to be a distinguished leader in education with NCCE,” stated Dr. Mike Nelson, Coeur d’Alene School District Deputy Superintendent of Instruction.
As she moves into her next chapter, Bobby Myers, NCCE COO, highlights this exciting transition:
“Kiersten’s impact on education will continue from students to educators as she transitions into her role as NCCE Conference Director full-time. Having masterfully balanced her school and community duties with her leadership at NCCE for the past two years, we are excited for her to be on the NCCE team full time.”
Congratulations Kiersten!! Thank you for 20 years of heart, soul, and unwavering commitment to thousands of students!
We appreciate you and your incredible legacy, and we can’t wait to see you continue to invest and make an impact for educators across the country in your new full-time role at NCCE!
