Katie Mason
Katie is an advocate for enhancing education through technology, holds a master’s degree in educational technology and has successfully completed her doctorate. Her dissertation focused on native populations and online communications. Throughout her career, Katie has served as a technology lead, webmaster, and spearheaded numerous tech-related projects and professional development initiatives. Notably, she is a National PBS All Star, actively involved in creating online curriculum resources for teachers nationwide. Katie has presented at the NCCE conference twice and attended several more times.Â
When she’s not immersed in the world of education, Katie enjoys skiing and paddle boarding with her three children. She is married to her best friend.Â
Karen Hickenbottom
Karen Hickenbottom is the Director of Learning Management Services for Everett School District. She is excited by the prospect of working with other leaders in districts to collaborate and think together about how they can best communicate with, educate, and support others in their region and beyond. She says there are a lot of great things happening in the Northwest region and believes they can work smarter, not harder if they can share their successes with others. She thinks this first team of regional leaders will help set the direction for the work they‘ll do together and there is always a lot of energy when starting something new. She is looking forward to being a part of that. As to fun facts about her, she’s been an educator for 18+ years and has always found ways to use technology with her students. She loves live music and dancing, crafting on the Cricut or Glow Forge, and reading.
