This spring in Weiser, something powerful began to take shape, an intentional shift from curiosity about artificial intelligence (AI) to a shared vision for what it could mean across an entire school district.

The journey started with leadership.

Through a three part professional learning series in partnership with NCCE, Weiser school and district leaders stepped into the evolving world of AI, not as passive observers, but as active designers of their district’s future. Together, they explored how AI can serve as a collaborative partner in their work, moving far beyond simple search queries into the art of advanced prompt engineering and strategic application.

This year’s work was led by NCCE professional learning specialists Lisa Abbett from Texas, Jamie Wright from Tennessee, Charity Nix from North Dakota, Randy Hawkins from Idaho, and Michael Higley from Florida, each bringing deep experience and a shared commitment to helping Weiser educators build confidence with AI.

Leaders engaged with a powerful set of tools, including:

Through hands on exploration, administrators experienced how AI tools can help streamline complex, time consuming work such as synthesizing parent survey feedback, auditing lesson plans, and identifying meaningful trends in student data. Many of these tools are specifically designed to help educators create materials, generate assessments, and personalize learning more efficiently.

Just as importantly, they focused on the bigger picture.

Throughout each session, leaders explored what it truly means to build a culture of responsible AI use. They examined the balance between innovation and integrity, considering academic honesty, student data privacy, and the importance of meeting diverse learner needs. They discussed not just what AI can do, but how to introduce it thoughtfully so that both educators and students are supported.

By the end of the series, Weiser leaders weren’t just equipped with tools, they had a framework. A clear and intentional approach to building a future ready AI culture grounded in responsibility and purpose.

And then, that leadership vision moved into classrooms.

At the end of May, educators from the Weiser School District and surrounding communities gathered for an energizing professional learning experience, “Google Gemini and AI for Educators: What is Possible?” What unfolded was more than a workshop, it was a moment where possibility became practice.

Grounded in the Human AI Human framework, teachers explored a powerful idea: AI should enhance, not replace, the human expertise at the center of teaching and learning.

Teachers stepped into hands on exploration, testing tools, asking questions, and experiencing both the strengths and limitations of generative AI. They saw firsthand that AI outputs require critical evaluation and thoughtful use, an important step in building confidence and responsible practices.

As the day continued, so did the excitement.

Educators discovered how AI tools like Gemini in Google Classroom can help draft lesson plans, generate quizzes, build rubrics, and adapt materials for different learners.  Tasks that once required significant time could now be completed more efficiently, creating space for deeper instructional work.

One of the most powerful moments came as teachers explored how AI can support personalized learning.

Using tools like Diffit and MagicSchool AI, educators practiced adapting content for multiple reading levels and student needs, helping ensure all learners can access grade level content. What once felt like a challenge to differentiate at scale began to feel achievable and practical.

To close the session, teachers moved from exploration to creation designing lesson and unit plans that intentionally incorporated AI. They focused on aligning learning objectives, building student tasks that foster AI literacy, and developing balanced assessment strategies that combine human thinking with technological support.

The result was clear: alignment.

From leadership to classrooms, Weiser is building a shared vision for AI, one rooted in thoughtful implementation, responsible use, and meaningful impact.

As educators return to their classrooms, they carry more than new tools. They bring a renewed sense of possibility, one that supports stronger instruction, deeper engagement, and more inclusive learning experiences for every student.
