Keynote Speaker Bushra Amiwala Inspiring Gen Z Leadership in Education

Each year, the Northwest Council for Computer Education (NCCE) brings inspiring voices to the stage at its annual conference to spark new ideas and perspectives for educators. At NCCE 26, happening February 25–27, 2026, at the Seattle Convention Center, we are thrilled to welcome Bushra Amiwala as our opening keynote speaker.

Bushra Amiwala is a trailblazer, advocate, and change-maker whose story represents the power of determination and leadership at any age. As the youngest elected official in the United States, Bushra embodies the values of resilience, innovation, and civic engagement, all qualities that resonate deeply with educators working to prepare today’s students for tomorrow’s world.

About Bushra Amiwala

Elected to the Skokie, Illinois, Board of Education at just 21 years old, Bushra has been recognized nationally and internationally for her dedication to public service and equity. She is part of a new wave of leaders demonstrating the importance of youth voices in shaping the future. Named to Forbes’ “30 Under 30” list and featured in numerous media outlets, Bushra is also a public speaker who inspires audiences to embrace diversity, lead with purpose, and create lasting impact.

Her journey reflects many of the same challenges and opportunities that today’s Gen Z students face, making her perspective invaluable for educators who want to understand and empower the next generation.

Why This Keynote Matters for Educators

Bushra’s keynote at NCCE 26 will challenge educators to think about leadership in new ways:

  • Empowering Student Voices: How can schools and teachers encourage students to step into leadership roles and make meaningful contributions to their communities?
  • Building Inclusive Communities: What does true equity and representation look like in educational environments?
  • Inspiring Future Leaders: How can educators nurture civic responsibility, resilience, and innovation in their classrooms, and inspire and motivate students to carry those traits into their adult lives?

Bushra’s story reminds us that leadership doesn’t wait for age or title. It starts with courage, confidence, vision, and support from communities, including school communities.

More Than a Keynote: The NCCE 26 Experience

While Bushra’s keynote will be an unforgettable highlight, it’s just one part of the transformative experience waiting for you at NCCE 26. This year’s conference includes:

  • Hands-On Workshops where educators can explore AI, STEM, digital storytelling, and more.
  • Specialized Summits and Strands designed for leaders, classroom teachers, and specialists.

Every session, conversation, and resource at NCCE 26 is designed to help educators bring innovation into their schools and districts.
