Since 2019, St. Anthony Tri-Parish Catholic School (SAS) has been part of the Microsoft Showcase School community. At one point, it had 3 of the 4 MIE Experts that were in Wyoming. Tim Galles has been one of those members since 2016 and has relished in the opportunity to make connections across the United States. He’s served as an MIE Fellow for the past three years in the region around Wyoming and wouldn’t be involved with NCCE without the MIEE community.
[bctt tweet=”In today’s ever-changing world, it’s important to stay on top of ways to grow and learn. With resources right at your fingertips, why wouldn’t you take advantage of that or at least share ways to succeed? We are all digital age learners who can always reach for more!” username=”mrgalles”]
As the Tech Coordinator of SAS, Tim serves classrooms from kindergarten to 8th grade with their technology needs. Solely a Tech Integration Specialist up until last year, he worked to provide opportunities for SAS students to expand their technology use in the classrooms, including the M365 suite of applications. The expansion of his role comes in the form of primary tech support for all teachers and students of SAS. This year they are switching out both staff and student computers (Surface Pro and Surface Go).
Along the way, Tim learned how to also be a sound tech for most of the events at the school, including weekly mass and concerts/plays. He has been the primary set designer for the last two plays at the school, this year employing rear projection scenes built in Canva! For the past 12 years, he has been the “assembly master” at SAS, where many things happen that are unexpected and certainly not your typical assembly (his new principal can attest to this from this year’s Christmas assembly). He also serves as the emcee of SAS’s annual fundraiser called PIE (Partners in Education), where they have been known to raise $500,000+ for the school!
He is always open to learning new things, and one of those ways is through the Microsoft Learn center. The robust admin section of Microsoft provides many opportunities for him to learn new ways to add, modify, and distribute new content to the students and staff. He is always open to sharing his knowledge of platforms with staff members, and if necessary, research if he doesn’t know!
