Tech, Balance, and Well-Being: Addressing Digital Wellness for Students and Educators at NCCE 26

As technology continues to redefine the classroom, it’s easy to feel both inspired and overwhelmed. In just a few decades, we’ve gone from books, notebooks, and pens (with the occasional overhead projector) to screens, AI tools, and digital platforms. The Northwest Council for Computer Education (NCCE) is proud to be a catalyst and facilitator in this evolution. However, in this new educational climate, where human connection can feel less evident, educators must continue to seek ways to create healthy, balanced learning environments for themselves and their students.

At NCCE 26 on February 25–27, 2026, at the Seattle Convention Center, digital wellness is once again set to take center stage, empowering educators to transform technology into a source of balance, engagement, and well-being.

Beyond Screen Time: A New Definition of Digital Wellness

In a world where students live much of their lives online, “digital wellness” isn’t just about logging off now and then; it’s about learning to use technology thoughtfully. The focused learning session Digital Wellness in a Wired World (Friday, 2/27 at 1:00 pm) will explore how integrating social-emotional learning (SEL) with educational technology helps students build resilience, focus, and self-regulation. Attendees will experience practical strategies that align digital engagement with emotional well-being and academic success.

Educators will leave with tools to encourage student agency, helping learners make intentional, conscious choices about their digital habits, manage distractions, and develop self-efficacy. This proactive approach turns technology from a potential stressor into a vehicle for personal growth.

Supporting Educators Through AI and Balance

Teachers, too, need space to recharge. The focused learning session Teaching Recharged: Leveraging AI to Boost Educator Well-being and Efficiency (Friday, 2/27 at 12:00 pm) showcases how artificial intelligence can lighten workloads and rekindle creativity. From automating administrative tasks to generating customized lesson supports, AI can give teachers back precious hours for reflection and student connection.

Rather than replacing the teacher’s role, these tools can be used to enhance it, allowing educators to focus on what matters most: building relationships and fostering critical thinking among their students. Attendees will explore AI strategies that support balance, reduce burnout, and promote sustainable teaching practices.

Creating a Culture of Wellness

Digital wellness isn’t achieved by individual effort alone; it’s a collective culture shift. Throughout NCCE 26, educators, leaders, and EdTech experts will collaborate on designing systems that support healthy engagement with technology across entire schools and districts.

Panel discussions and learning labs will highlight the importance of setting shared digital norms, creating wellness-driven school policies, and modeling balanced digital citizenship. Participants will also explore how equity and wellness intersect, ensuring that all students—not just the most connected—benefit from tech-rich learning experiences.

Recharge and Reimagine at NCCE 26

NCCE 26 offers more than professional development—it’s an opportunity to step away from the daily rush, reconnect with purpose, and return to the classroom inspired. Between sessions, attendees can network with peers, visit the exhibit hall for hands-on demos of wellness-oriented EdTech tools, and experience how small changes in digital habits can lead to big gains in focus, creativity, and well-being.

Join us this coming February in Seattle to explore how technology can empower educators and students alike. Register for NCCE 26 today and join us in the conversation on creating balanced, healthy, and thriving digital classrooms.
