Despite schools facing tighter budgets and increasing demands on those limited funds, libraries must continue innovating, adapting, and inspiring. But how do library professionals manage to rise to the challenge? The answer lies in collaboration, sharing resources, and learning from one another — precisely what the upcoming Teacher Librarian Summit at NCCE 25 promises to deliver.
The Northwest Council for Computer Education (NCCE) annual conference will be held at the Seattle Convention Center from February 26 to 28, 2025. The teacher librarian summit will discuss the transformative power of libraries and give schools insight into creative ways libraries maximize their impact.
Superpowered Libraries: Maximizing Impact with Limited Resources
This year’s summit is aptly named “Superpowered Libraries: Maximizing Impact with Limited Resources.” The importance of school librarians often goes unrecognized within the educational space, but many libraries are able to achieve extraordinary results with modest means when it comes to providing students and teachers with educational resources. Whether you’re a seasoned librarian or just beginning your career, this summit will offer you tools, resources, and community connections to help your library thrive, no matter the challenges it faces.
These sessions will introduce you to a treasure trove of free Open Educational Resources (OER) and cutting-edge tools designed to enhance your school’s presentations, web pages, and classroom materials. From leveraging social media to connect with authors and access free educational content to discovering new ways to engage students, the summit offers practical strategies to help you do more with less. You’ll leave with fresh ideas that can be implemented in your library almost immediately.
Meet Dr. Sarah Moukhliss, Shannon Miller, and Lia Dossin
The Teacher Librarian Summit will feature three prominent leaders in the school library field: Dr. Sarah Moukhliss, Shannon Miller, and Lisa Dossin. Dr. Moukhliss brings 23 years of expertise in K-12 school libraries and academia. Shannon Miller, the District Teacher Librarian at Van Meter Community Schools, is also a Future Ready Librarian Leader. Dr. Moukhliss and Ms. Miller will be joined by Lisa Dossin, the Director of Outreach and Programs for Future Ready Schools. Together, they will deliver fresh content and an exceptional day of interactive learning and networking.
An Interactive, Engaging Experience
Beyond the breakout sessions and panels, the Teacher Librarian Summit will feature hands-on learning and networking opportunities. The Nexus Hub, an interactive space open during breaks and lunch, will immerse attendees in the latest library trends, offering a chance to test new tools, explore best practices, and connect with like-minded professionals. Whether you’re looking to exchange ideas or gather new resources for your school, the Nexus Hub is where you’ll take your library game to the next level.
The Teacher Librarian Summit at NCCE 25 is more than a professional development opportunity; it’s a chance to recharge your passion for library science, meet others who share your goals, and discover new ways to maximize the impact of your work. If you’re ready to level up your library and empower your students like never before, register for NCCE 25 and join us in Seattle.
