We are so excited to have Kiersten Kerr join the NCCE as our Conference Director! Kiersten brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to team and I know she has big plans for the 2022 NCCE conference this year. We recently sat down with Kiersten to learn a little more about her. Please help us welcome Kiersten!

NAME: Kiersten Kerr
TITLE: Teacher Librarian
SCHOOL DISTRICT: Coeur d’Alene School District
EXPERIENCE: Sixteen years as an elementary and secondary teacher librarian, ten years as a technology leader for the building and district.

Please let us know a bit about you:   I grew up in Oceanside, California and now live in beautiful North Idaho with Bill White, the Athletic Director for Coeur d’Alene High School.  We have four children – Ryan, a recent graduate from Boise State University, Travis, a junior at University of Idaho, Megan, a sophomore at North Idaho College, and Kate, a senior at CHS.

I earned my bachelor’s degree at UCSD, and my master’s degree in information science from the University of North Texas.

What are some books that you are currently reading?

What are some podcasts that you are currently listening to right now?

TED Radio Hour, The Cult of PedagogyRadio Headspace, and sometimes my son’s roommates’ podcast so I know what’s going on in their world!

What is your favorite comfort food?

Tacos. Everything is better with tacos.

Have you tried something new in the last 12 months?

I learned to surf this summer. I’m not good, in fact I’m terrible, but I had fun.

What is something you are looking forward to being on the NCCE 2022 Conference Director?

I’m really excited to get to know and work with the NCCE staff and trainers more often and on a more personal level. The collective knowledge of this group is incredible, and I’m so looking forward to learning from and collaborating with everyone!
